Melamine

I bought a great bowl set from Costco last year, it is Melamine. It was this one: I had never heard of melamine before. It is sturdy but sounds hollow inside. It is plastic but smooth. The bowls came with lids and melamine measuring spoons. They are all black and really useful. The largest one has a handle. I love these bowls. Here is some more melamine products.
Which one of these things doesn't belong?!

Melamine has been in the news a lot lately, you might have heard. China poisoned about 54,000 infants and children in China with Melamine. "Melamine, which is high in nitrogen, is used to make plastics and fertilizers and experts say some amount of the chemical may be transferred from the environment during food processing. But in China's case, suppliers trying to boost output are believed to have diluted their milk, adding melamine because its nitrogen content can fool tests aimed at verifying protein content."

Turns out China also used Melamine in the White Rabbit Creamy Candy that is sold in the U.S. and was found / recalled in CA this week.

I think this is the same as a terrorist attack. I think it is time to boycott China. I call for a ban on all chinese imports. First it was fireworks, seafood intended for human consumption, certain electric products (like Starbucks coffee mugs), toothpaste with a deadly contaminate, toys with lead, then pet food (which killed an estimated 39,000 pets in America!), honey tainted with a potentially life-threatening antibiotic, and glazed pottery. This month toy castles, kids jewelry, and toy magnets. Last month, 17 of 28 products recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission were Chinese imports.

Some of this information is from a year ago, but how long must it go on before something really bad happens, well I mean the things that have already happened are really bad - but not bad enough obviously. And China has less regulations than U.S. but somehow it is ok to just keep bringing in their products. I know that it would be almost impossible to not buy anything from China, if you go to the store almost everything is made there. But if you spend the time to look you will find the U.S.A. made products and they are bound to be safer for you.

What do you expect? They are COMMUNISTS after all!
